I was rewatching parts of it and just had this thought…

Is this supposed to be Yamaguchi from Gokusen? xD Didn’t really occur to me earlier (in the manga I just thought it was some generic pun), but with the audio it sure seems like Yamaguchi…

Chapters 8-9 fully covered. If it’s a single season show, chapter 17 would be a good place to stop from what I’ve seen… But back to this week’s episode.

Hmm… where to start… I guess with a disclaimer that the new character names are all my romanizations, I’ve no clue on the official versions. Kay, we got that out of the way, let’s move onto said new characters - the first Mishima baddies.

Vanilla M. (Make) Repairs (ヴァニラ・M（メイク）・リペアーズ) looks pretty good, but not as hot as I would like - I think it’s the face shape and blue hair, which was more metallic in the manga art. I’m also not sold on Sheryl Nome voicing her… On the other hand I absolutely love how Kite B. (Bryan) Sounds (カイト・B（ブライアン）・サウンズ) turned out in the anime, great job there. Kiriko and Mitsuishi Kotono didn’t get much time to shine, but they did the job perfectly fine as Kemeko’s opposite.

Kemeko’s opposite… and here I think lies my problem with the 2nd half of this episode - Kiriko, Vanilla and Kite are all rather calm characters, which didn’t exactly make things exciting. This further proves that “Kemeko Deluxe!” is indeed Kemeko’s (and Chiwa Saito’s) show - whenever she’s on screen - be it the Ninja or Snail Kemeko - it succeeds. Orite, the little fight between Kemeko and Ryoko was also better than anything in episode 3. :D

Official site updated with staff & cast for movie 6 (Nana Mizuki & Ryotaro Okiayu). Subsections for the new chapters are still closed though.

Much like the other episodes this one was sticking closely to the original as well, with only small bits extended here and there. Plus they actually showed Kemeko’s fight with the droids in here. I really liked it and even made a new avatar for myself, but what I have to mention is the next episode preview…

Sad grunty is sad. :( I really think they did a great job with the character designs so far, but Vanilla, unfortunately, is not as hot as I’d expect after manga. Something doesn’t sit right with me here… I really hope it’s just the big next episode sign that’s bothering me, but I’m afraid it might be the character design execution… And what’s with the intense hair color? :(

On the plus side though: the new mecha, Kiriko, is voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi!!! Awesome casting there. :D Not sure on Aya Endou voicing Vanilla but we shall hear!

PS: The changes to the OP and ED animations were pretty unnecesary, especially THE eyes in the ED.

As Seasons Of Change reports, the 6th chapter of Kara no Kyoukai, “Boukyaku Rokuon” (Fairy Tale), will be released theatricaly on December 20, 2008 (as I was expecting ^^).

The opening 6 minutes were great, but as it continued… eh. Not that there were no funny moments there (most courtesy of Chiwa Saito’s line delivery), but I was getting more and more disappointed with every minute.

Nevermind the long uninspired fight sequences, you know what annoyed me the most in this episode? Kemeko’s size - it was very random and she was waaaaaay undersized almost all of the time (I somehow didn’t notice it in the past episodes). Another bad thing is how light-weight they make her seem (jumping and hanging onto Sanpeita). Kemeko should be a big fat friggin’ mecha, not a mecha-Guu that’s not even reaching his waistline. Perhaps more adlibing from Chiwa in the 2nd half would help…

But, as I said, CHOBEBEGU was 超（ちょう）ベリーベリーグッド！, indeed (Chou Very Very Good).

Next pool episode seems like 1chapter episode again. It SHOULD be hilarious so let’s hope it actually IS. Episode 5, I suspect, will also be wholy devoted to the date from chapter 7 (or perhaps they extend through the following chapter for a HAWT cliffhanger) and things should pick up after that…

Unlike some, I was not disappointed by this episode at all. Here are two parodies that I recognized (hopefully correctly lol), but didn’t see other bloggers mention.

MARVELOUS Ghost in the Shell (it only lacked Kemeko singing the choruses from the movie)

MARVELOUS Higurashi (6th arc). This one actually might be unintentional, since it’s the same in the manga.

Tell me what it is cause it looks so familiar.

Finally had time to watch the whole thing instead of just OP/ED and well… this episode was simply A+++++++++ all around. Thank you, Tsutomu Mizushima, Chiwa Saitou, animators. Now my only worry is future episodes sticking to this quality… Please, please, please, please continue being awesome…
