I wanted to post the first two some time ago, yet never bothered, so here they are before I get to the WTF point.

The good LOL: DARKER THAN BLACK OST1 cover. Simply awesome, even if it looks more like my dog than Mao IMHO.

The bad LOL: DEAD GIRLS DVD cover. Honestly, Gontzo is trying to ruin RED GARDEN for me before the OVA gets even released - first the mecha promo pic and now THIS. 07.07.13 update: this cover seems to be now for the limited edition DVD only.

And now the WTF - Kyouya’s new composers post at randomc. I’ve had my LOL earlier this week (overlooked workers, LOL) and after reading this new post I didn’t really think about commenting on it in a bigger post - “so he likes this and doesn’t like that - we’re all like that”. But I got back from walking the dog, read it again, went “LOL WUT?” and here it is. Yes, this will be about Kajiura (and Kanno), but to be exact - about Kyouya’s “reasonings” for his “rankings”. Post analysis START.

Fine by me. We like some things more than others, simple as that… but Kyouya continues.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t she have her own solo project called FictionJunction (YUUKA, ASUKA, KAORI, KEIKO and WAKANA)?

FFS… SO WHAT? You were supposed to talk about BGMs. BUT Kyouya continues…

If that’s not enough, have supporters neglected her partnership with Ishikawa Chiaki to form the group known as See-Saw?

OK, I’m probably reading too much into this, but “if that’s not enough“? Kajiura “supporters neglected” See-Saw? WTF? What kind of an arrogant off-topic comment is this? Not only is this getting personal (bashing Kajiura fans?), but is Kyouya trying to say Kajiura cannot be in his All Stars list BECAUSE she worked with Chiaki? Because she had other non-anime song projects? There has to be something to it, since he stresses on her “solo projects” so much in his post, but wait, wait… so what about Kanno and Maaya? Didn’t Kanno compose like 90% of Maaya Sakamoto stuff? Yet there she is in his All Stars ranking. Hmm… interesting. (Note, I do like Yoko Kanno a lot, so this is no hatin’ on her.)

But still… this is randomc, where 43% of the visitors probably don’t use any other sources for their animu info/news and Kyouya will now be their new BGM composer guru. Have fun “researching” your next ranking, Kyouya (AKA making it up on the fly, since that’s what it seems so far).

Apparently a STAND ALONE COMPLEX CD-BOX is planned for Aug 22, 2007 and segadirect suggests a new O.S.T.4 getting included. Hopefully all the tracks I wanted from all parts of SAC are included this time around. ^^ Source: segadirect with many thanks to roxfan.

Edit: Release date seems to have changed to Sept 5.

I’ll make it short.

So like, I just read this article from the new poster on random curiosity and I (and some others) LOLd. Not that the ‘all stars’ composers list is bad, one can agree with it or not - guess it’s a matter of taste and maybe education, but here’s this thing that got me LOL:

This segment will open by focusing on one of the most overlooked workers in the anime industry: BGM composers.

Oh for Pete’s sake… overlooked? Is this a joke?

They are usually the first to get announced out of the staff with directors and writers, get 2 CDs per show and that’s ‘overlooked’ workers for you? Heck, some people watch shows because of certain composers! You say they are overlooked and yet you list some of the biggest names in the game (some of which even a person that doesn’t give a shit about music probably recognizes) - WHAT ON EARTH?

The only people who might be overlooking composers are those who don’t care about (anime) music at all, and… well, they still won’t care about it after a post like that so why bother with a ‘poor overlooked workers’ commentary? Calling composers one of THE MOST overlooked in the industry is retarded. Do you know any people responsible for animation or recording dialogue/sfx for anime? I for one don’t know any, so I’m completley overlooking them and I bet -almost everyone- else does too.

One also has to wonder, what’s with the rankings on ramdonc lately? From what I remember it used to be just anime episode summaries/impressions and random posts (on games, music, anime news)… Is Omni trying to get people to cover everything? Full game reviews/rankings coming soon?

Now back to checking sola’s OST…

The official FictionJunction YUUKA site/JVC album page was updated with audio samples from the new album. Full Size Mixes of romanesque and Kouya Ruten are still missing though.

Just noticed chiaki’s new album got announced. It’s titled 『僕はまだ何も知らない。』 (”I don’t know anything yet.”?) and is going to be released in regular and limited edition (with a DVD) versions on August 22, 2007. Can’t wait.
