Update: thanks to Stranger for filling me in on the new season contents! read comments below!
Higurashi site got updated with a new artwork - first promo pic of Higurashi Kai, perhaps? - as well as character designs which are now in color (lack of toothpick-thin legs is still shocking) and a lot of text which I don’t understand (opening song?). :P
I still want to know if it’s a sequel to the first one (hopefully) or a brand new (original?) adaptation. Can anyone help?
It’s sequel. Contain 7th and 8 th Arc from original game.And added new arc called “Yakusamashi-hen” which is(If I’m not misunderstand)some kind of stage-setting chapter to link 1st and 2nd season together.
It’ll air in this order like this
Yakusamashi-hen>Minagoroshi-hen>Matsuribayashi-hen.
24 episodes length. (Minagoroshi-hen alone actually have enough material to goes on 10+ episode ^^”‘. But I think they’ll chop it up just like they did with 1st season T.T(Honestly, 5 episode for Tsumihoroboshi-hen was too cruel for original’s fan….)
All I pray(and strongly hope) for 2nd season is “No ugly emo-facial-distortion…please…”

Wow! That’s awesome info! Thanks a lot for posting. I also hope they ditch the -unfortunately- hilarious facial distoritions from the show as they completely ruined the mood in the first season.
