Geneon also have the rights to nanohadvd.com, and Nanoha was also based on a PC game. It’s too vague to make any kind of sweeping generalisations at the moment.

Oh well… note to self: never mention licenses /guesses/ again. I don’t really care about the R1s anyways. :)

DiGiKerot: Although Nanoha was based off of Triangle Hearts, it still was a spinoff and not content lifted straight from the game (e.g. the actual TV series), so I think we can focus on Higurashi being a winner.

Well, its a moot point given that the second clue makes it pretty damn obvious its Higurashi, but its just a case of semantics - Mahou Shojo Lyrical Nanoha did, technically, exist as a game in its own right as a short story on the Triangle Hearts fandisk. The fact that the anime ended up having litle in common withs its actual content is beside the point - thats where the concept came from.
