CD: Paprika OST
Posted by kacpyNov 28
I actually wasn’t expecting this OST to be released any time soon (I somehow never noticed it on websites), but it’s a really nice one if this is your kind of stuff. xD
I’m sure most of you 「Paprika」 heads already know who the composer is and what he has done previously, but for those who might not know: Susumu Hirasawa & 「Paranoia Agent」 for example. If you’re not sure if this is your kind of thing, you need to ask yourself if you liked 「Paranoia Agent」 music. If you did like it, you’ll LOVE 「Paprika」. If you didn’t… hmm… I’m not sure either. Of course you can also leech the tracks which are available for free here (one of them is not on the OST!)
Anyways, I love 「パレード」 「逃げる者」 「Lounge」 「滴いっぱいの記憶」 and 「白虎野の娘」. The short movie to 「白虎野の娘」 which comes with the OST is pretty odd, too.
I might do the original Japanese lyrics to 「パレード」 and 「白虎野の娘」 later if I have time, but for now you can enjoy the English version from the booklet.
「パレード」 / Parade

Energy in my heart is of chemical foam. A street of taxies, worn tires, blood and flesh. Behold all that is liberty is a parody of Utopia. A shining boulevard of buyers and giga-movies. Mino depression is nonsense, La vie en rose is on sale. Dying literacy is systematically auto-killed. You can not write the word “ignorance”. The future is on sale. Now it is coming to you, giving off a stench and devouring your shadow. The roaring MC becomes a lethal dose for the public. Minor theory is flimflam, hedonism is on sale. Now it is coming to you giving off a stench, devouring your shadow. |

it’s out already?! woah.

I watched the movie in a festival near where I live and it was just amazing, and what an incredible score! Thanks for the translation. I’ve been trying to download the score to revive the movie but it is just imposible to find.

In “Parade”, there’s also a very short segment in Vietnamese. I was listening to the soundtrack while studying for my finals, and I realized that I understood some of it. Translates to something like, “Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. These are our hopes and fears. These are our dreams.”

I had a VNese friend translate it for me, it’s “Hello our friends, this is our homeland, this is our orbit.” The message in Unicode, “Xin chào các bạn, đây là quê hương của chúng tôi, đây là quỹ đạo của chúng tôi.”

no, it’s not “this is our orbit”, it’s “this is our future”. Are you VIetnamese? >.

Yeah, I am kind of surprise when I heard the sentence in my language. It is “Hello my friends, this is our homeland, this is our future” like Neo had said, but isn’t it in the song “Girl in the byakkoya”? Not in the song “Parade”.

Where can i find PARADE lyrics on Romaji?
Comment by Joshua — November 5, 2007 @ 5:18 am
I also noticed the Vietnamese immediately! I’ve been learning for a few years. Couldn’t get the exact words ‘quê hương’ and ‘quỹ đạo’ though, so thanks!

Joshua, I couldn’t find the romaji either, so I made an effort and transcribed the lyrics by myself. I will post it here, hoping that I am allowed to do so. But be careful, I am NOT a japanologist, neither a Japanese language student and not even a native speaker. I only do self study for personal interest and I’m not that great. I was using a virtual dictionary and I checked my words by listening to the song. So I warn you, there MIGHT BE mistakes in my text.
Enjoy!

Thank you for connecting me (in a roundabout way) to No Room!

What is the phrase in the very beginning of Parade (and is repeated a lot later on)? I was trying to figure out what it was from the given lyrics in english, but I couldn’t.
