CD: Paprika OST

I actually wasn’t expecting this OST to be released any time soon (I somehow never noticed it on websites), but it’s a really nice one if this is your kind of stuff. xD

I’m sure most of you 「Paprika」 heads already know who the composer is and what he has done previously, but for those who might not know: Susumu Hirasawa & 「Paranoia Agent」 for example. If you’re not sure if this is your kind of thing, you need to ask yourself if you liked 「Paranoia Agent」 music. If you did like it, you’ll LOVE 「Paprika」. If you didn’t… hmm… I’m not sure either. Of course you can also leech the tracks which are available for free here (one of them is not on the OST!)

Anyways, I love 「パレード」 「逃げる者」 「Lounge」 「滴いっぱいの記憶」 and 「白虎野の娘」. The short movie to 「白虎野の娘」 which comes with the OST is pretty odd, too.

I might do the original Japanese lyrics to 「パレード」 and 「白虎野の娘」 later if I have time, but for now you can enjoy the English version from the booklet.

「パレード」 / Parade

written by Susumu Hirasawa

Energy in my heart is of chemical foam.
A street of taxies, worn tires, blood and flesh.
Behold all that is liberty is a parody of Utopia.
A shining boulevard of buyers and giga-movies.

Mino depression is nonsense, La vie en rose is on sale.
They say you should know you are happier than you realize.

Dying literacy is systematically auto-killed.
The formaldehyde street of buyers and hanging wires.
Moisturize that dry synergy with artificial sweetener.
Raining money into the high-rise mega-temples.

You can not write the word “ignorance”. The future is on sale.
Push aside and laugh at the karmic tale saying it’s superstition.

Now it is coming to you, giving off a stench and devouring your shadow.
The parade of terror is coming, and it is in your name.

The roaring MC becomes a lethal dose for the public.
On the street of cripples, selling diamonds and battered Tao.
Behold all that is liberty is a parody of Utopia.
Rely on SSRI and say ‘hi-ho’ in the coffee shop.

Minor theory is flimflam, hedonism is on sale.
It is non-repayable, it has reached the point of no return.

Now it is coming to you giving off a stench, devouring your shadow.
The parade of terror is coming, and it is in your name.
Now your shadow procreates as if the ground is being smothered.
The parade of lunacy is coming, and it is in your name.

“Solid State Society” lyrics

Here are official booklet lyrics to 「Solid State Society」 Soundtrack songs. For whatever reason they didn’t use spaces in 「player」 and 「date of rebirth」 so I left them as they were in the booklet. There are no lyrics to 「replica」 and 「take a little hand」 as they were both written by Gabriela Robin (which basically means, they’re just gibberish :P). There’s more after the jump~

CD: 009-1 Original Sound Track

Really nice OST. If you liked Iwasaki’s 「Read or Die」 soundtracks, you should be enjoying this as well as they are in similar style. I don’t know why the last 3 pieces are bonus tracks - are they not used in the show at all? Whatever’s the case, this 63 minute CD offers plenty of upbeat and calm tracks for your cold evenings.

Favorite tracks after first listen:

「Theme of 009-1」, 「Number of Numbers (No.0)」, 「Everywhere You Wish」, 「Suddenly, Last Night」.

CD: NHK ni Yokoso! OST2

A much better release than the first OST was to me. It’s more dementia-ish and jazzy-ish, and less rock-ish (save for the ED and one other song). Not to mention, unlike the last OST, this disc actually has music which I remember hearing in the opening episodes (haven’t seen more than few episodes of the show) - 「秘密の線を引く奴等」 (the conspiracy track from eps1-2) is already number #4 here. Purupuru pururin -denpa ver- (「ふしぎ・プルプル・プルリン・リン!-電波Ver.-」) is truly fabulous, although shorter than I’d hoped.

Favorite tracks after first listen:

「秘密の線を引く奴等」, 「「休憩」は甘すぎる言葉」, 「陽炎列車」, 「ふしぎ・プルプル・プルリン・リン!-電波Ver.-」.

Pre-release comments:

Bumped it because I noticed the tracklisting and THAT version of pururin is in THERE! w00t.

2006.10.15 edit: tracklisting added. Track #8 is 「fushigi purupuru pururin rin」 while #24 is…. :D … 「fushigi purupuru pururin rin -denpa ver-」. *does a happy dance* Sooo can’t wait the disc now!

old: Here’s hoping this one has that darn Plrin theme (both, the cutesy and dementiaish versions from episode 1). I really don’t want much more… as long as those are there…

Just a small hurrahz @ GITS SAC SSS OST.

As it turns out this OST should be really titled SAC OST4, not SSS OST - it has several 2nd GIG-exclusive tracks and doesn’t even include some of the SSS music, even the only SSS-exclusive Gabriela Robin track is missing… WTF?

* “tempest” is from 2nd GIG!
* “born stubborn” is from 2nd GIG!
* “she is” is from 2nd GIG ep2!
* “sniper” is from 2nd GIG ep14!
* “aramaki’s theme” is from 2nd GIG ep23!
* “take a little hand is” from 2nd GIG ep11/13/2ndGIGIndividualEleven/SAC SSS!
* “remedium” is from 2nd GIG ep23!

Hurrahz for 2nd GIG music.

FictionJunction YUUKA “blessing” lyrics

Typed out by me from the CD insert. If you notice any errors or have a fucking clue what the Engrish bits say, do leave a comment. I like this song much more than Kouya Ruten. ;x There’s more after the jump~

some unreleased STAND ALONE COMPLEX music

I like most of Kanno’s works, but she really likes to keep most of her music unreleased and I sometimes truly hate her for that. Just look at how much more there is in 「Chikyuu Shoujo Arjuna」, 「Wolf’s Rain」, 「Sousei no Aquarion」 and, my personal favorite of the bunch, 「GITS SAC」. In case you’re wondering why I didn’t mention Cowboy Bebop the answer is very simple: I’m one of the 10 (or so) people who don’t like that show or its BGMs. There’s more after the jump~

About the theme...

  • Well, this is a tricky one! The code is based on fUnique by Fredrik, while the colors are based on Freedom Blue by Frank Helmschrott which is also based on fUnique. I couldn't convert Freedom Blue to a blogsome theme properly (worked in some browsers, while it didn't in others), so I recreated it from the source (and it seems to work in all browsers I tried).
